Football has a unique power to bring people together — across neighbourhoods, backgrounds, and circumstances. At Maranatha SC, we take that power seriously. The community is not our audience. The community is the reason we exist.
Over the past year, we have run football clinics in three Kampala neighbourhoods, working with children who have never owned a pair of proper boots. We bring coaches, we bring kit, we bring time. We show up week after week, because showing up is what commitment looks like.
We have partnered with local schools to deliver coaching sessions during PE periods, giving teachers support and giving children an introduction to the beautiful game in a structured, safe environment. More than a hundred children have come through these sessions.
Beyond football, the club supports a school fees programme for players from difficult economic backgrounds. We believe that if someone has the character and talent to represent Maranatha SC, we have a responsibility to support their whole life — not just their football career.
None of this makes the headlines. None of it shows up in the league table. But it is the work we are most proud of. It is what makes Maranatha SC more than a football club.
